Past Life Package

Be the hero (INE) of one's life

How to write your newsletter in this Sunday afternoon in October, I'm half reading "Ulysses Tennyson" observed mean the New Orleans Saints play the San Diego Chargers at Wembley Stadium (TV), and all thinking about what my beautiful past, present and future coaching clients he was inspired to write through the daily deluge of sadness and dissemination of economic information and headlines. (And no, I am an Enneagram type 7 to those of you speculating about my apparent multitasking can)!

One of my current job coaches clients (worked) in Lehman, and many, in fact, most the others are affected directly or indirectly from the effects of current climate. The very negative news and commentary is contagious and we all must to keep our own thoughts and the positive approach for the return. While fear is the dominant feeling at the moment for many, I have been thinking that the opposite of fear is faith, and that is what is now is called to cultivate.

So what is the connection between football and Tennyson's economic climate? Let's start with the football team New Orleans Saints aptly named. His triumphant return to the place previously battered New Orleans, the place of refuge for many in the flooding of the city and even a symbol of destruction of the city, marked a resurgence of hope and faith in the city for Spirit and its future. When the band played When the Saints go marching felt "On top of the game, obviously the pride of New Orleans visitors see and and broken spirit of New Orleans began to revive and heal emerging stronger than ever.

"Tennyson's Ulysses," says a similar story, although a sea voyage as a flood is the opportunity of the hero's journey. As those of you that September issue will be able to read this newsletter, every issue, I am choosing a piece of literature, thinking about it, for wisdom and inspiration. In this edition, which is causing the famous poem by Tennyson, "Ulysses." The poem is about a middle-aged hero has gone back to On his odyssey, exhausted, confused, tired and exhausted, but decided on a new heroic journey and not give in to disappointment and loss. You can read this poem in the full link: http://www.eecs.harvard.edu/ ~ Keith / poems / Ulysses.html

Many of you can with the poem, especially the famous last lines:

"Come, my friends
It's not too late to seek a newer world
much taken Tho 'much remains, and Thomas'
We are not now that strength which in old times
Moved earth and heaven, that we are what we are
A similar mood of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but is strongly
To strive, to seek, find, and not very smooth. "

With all the fear, the economic damage and job losses and other changes that necessarily all through our lives, we must remember that we are in our Essentially, we have the potential to be, and use the crisis as an exciting, if possible, the heroes of our own lives.

My client is coach Lisa Lehman loss a job as a call to adventure, an exciting springboard for us to discover its true costs and appeal, something that reflects who you really are that light response with their values. Adversity creates therefore a real possibility of deep fulfillment in a work always beyond the material rewards and their reflection in the best of it. (Actually started with me a few months before Lehman collapsed happy with a view to the discovery and development of his vocation and was their travel on a margin above.) At the moment we are considering what their values, strengths of personality and inspiring work on roads outside banks suggest and all and everything is still possible. I'm going to keep up to date, but are both excited to see what is before us at the end of this particular trip. Lisa has kindly give me permission, their stories are here and pleased to present to readers an update on progress in due time!

Joseph Campbell, one of my favorite writers, once said, "is the privilege of a life, who you are." This brings us back to the wonderful line of Tennyson "The we are, what we are. "For those who are fully depths and discover our potential and live then, we are usually in an adventure or Called Quest. This could be a journey like Odysseus, or Bilbo Baggins "semi-Quest unwillingly with the wizard Gandalf and the dwarves to find and kill the dragon and seize the treasure (I'm reading present "The Hobbit" Christopher, my son 10 years), or might own research into new worlds as my client is nice to Lehman to do. Or on your own adventure, whatever. As Campbell writes: "We are willing to get rid of the life we've planned to have the life that awaits us. The heroic life life of each adventure. "

Campbell's Hero Journey into account includes leaving our familiar existence after a call to adventure, above the threshold, venture into the unknown, our sea voyage, and go through tests, exams, openings, in view of the danger, as we discover our prices or treasure, if the finding of wisdom, awakening the sleeping princess or princess inside ourselves metaphorically to sleep, or finding an elixir for the restoration of society, as New Orleans Saints and give us back the precious elixir of life for humanity, to renew them.

We have the opportunity to make alchemical soul now, individually and collectively to have an opportunity to transform a superficial life, unconscious in material security and performance of our stock portfolio to a life illuminated with the base of the whole range of magical possibilities of our potential waiting to be discovered, a life highlighted in the cultivation of the mind and soul.

Joseph Campbell distinguishes between the self and the self: "The ego is the way you think about yourself. You regarding all the commitments of your life as you understand them. The self is all the ways you never thought of. And you're trapped in your past when you sit down with your ego. As if everything you know about yourself is what you learned about, already happened. The self is a whole field of possibilities waiting to get ahead. "

Whatever your own call to adventure seems, if someone calls your door, a magician, an inner call to transcend the hamster wheel joyless routine drainage or a social plan, perceive, why not embrace the faith instead of fear, the opportunity to "seek a newer world" to find a connection with your own heroic heart, like Ulysses, which is waiting to go inside you, and the hero or heroine of your own life?
